Internal Audit

Independent assurance work that evaluates whether governance, risk management, and controls operate as intended.

Buying context

Why it matters

Internal audit gives directors evidence beyond management's own reporting. Value depends on independence, risk-based coverage, qualified work, and disciplined validation of corrective action.

Questions to ask

  1. How does the proposed plan connect audit coverage to the bank's risk assessment and recent change?
  2. Which specialist skills are available for areas such as IT, BSA, model risk, and fiduciary operations?
  3. Who can change scope or ratings, and how are disagreements reported to the audit committee?
  4. What evidence is required before a finding is validated as closed?
